Formé dans les années 2000 dans les environs d’Annemasse (Hte Savoie 74) ville frontière avec Genève, Crankcase est un groupe de punk / rock and roll « high energy » qui puise ses influences dans le répertoire punkrock de la fin des 70’s jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Le groupe enregistre un album autoproduit « Turbo Twist & Fly », se produit sur la scène locale et Suisse voisine, les bars et les MJC assurant des premières parties pour Los Très Puntos, Tagada Jones etc…
En 2010, après un changement de batteur, la nouvelle formation compose de nouveaux morceaux et enregistre un album 9 titres « Bring me some booze I wanna get clever / Gimme a chainsaw I’m gonna rule the world » qui sort au printemps 2012 toujours en autoproduction. Les concerts reprennent et Crankcase ouvre pour les Ramoneurs de Menhirs au festival FestiFouach le 29 juin 2012.
